Together we create a thriving, lush Philadelphia through the sacred power of reparations

Purpose: reparationWorks advances the movement to heal and repair from the harms of settler colonialism and chattel slavery in Philly and beyond. We seek repair on the levels of resources, Spirit, and relationship toward the re-membering of our connection with the kindom of creation.

We exist to cultivate reparationists (faith-based and secular) and a reparationist movement.

A movement of reparationists willing to engage in both the spiritual and relational work required to redistribute material resources (money, buildings, land) toward the creation of a thriving Philadelphia. 

We exist to advance reparative healing and repair by creating a commons. 

A reparative commons that gathers these resources and redistributes power through a community governed receptacle that focuses these resources to transform the urban agricultural ecosystem in Philadelphia.

We exist to shift culture toward reparations in Philadelphia. A program of rigorous experimentation, bringing people together to collaboratively cook up and serve ancient and new avenues of culture to advance healing and repair.

Our programs and projects are: 

Rise up for Reparations Campaign: A multi-faith campaign in Philadelphia  to engage 100 white majority congregations in sincere reparations work redistributing land, money, and other resources through the faith community while provoking healing for all.

Practicing repair as ministry to reclaim the commons.

ReparationCommons: Food productive gardens and farms in every neighborhood, owned by the community, designed and resourced for now and the future. 

We create opportunities for land that grows and stays.

Reparations Kitchen: Through creative cultural events (such as the reparations salon and mini memorials) we invite folks to deepen their connection to one another and to engage with reparationist frames and approaches to support the movement toward reparations in Philly. 

Together we cook up healing and repair.

Vision: We dream of a lush, thriving Philadelphia where we collectively nourish a rigorous culture of care and healing that in turn nourishes each of us, our families and communities, and all our relations (the planet we share).
